MY LOVE FOR THE RIVER AND SEA IN CAMARINES NORTE

There’s nothing more refreshing than spending time by the water, and in Camarines Norte, I get to enjoy both the serene rivers and the breathtaking sea. Every visit feels like an escape into nature’s beauty—whether I’m swimming in the cool, clear waters of Mananap River or feeling the salty breeze at Bagasbas Beach. The peaceful sound of flowing water and the crashing waves of the ocean bring me a sense of calm and adventure at the same time.

From lazy afternoons by the river to thrilling beach days, I make the most of every moment. Whether it’s trekking through nature, enjoying a picnic by the riverbank, or riding the waves at the beach, Camarines Norte never fails to amaze me. Join me as I share my experiences and adventures in these stunning waters! 

DESTINATION #1: FREEZING CRYSTAL WATER IN MANANAP RIVER

Every day at noon, my family and I head to our favorite getaway spot—the Mananap River Resort in San Lorenzo Ruiz. While we usually skip showering at home, we can’t resist taking a refreshing dip in the cool, crystal-clear waters of the river, making it our go-to escape from the summer heat. The freezing water, surrounded by lush greenery, is the perfect way to relax and beat the midday sun.

Most days, we simply enjoy swimming and unwinding in nature’s embrace. The river has something for everyone—a shallow area for kids to splash around and a deeper 11-foot section for those who love to dive and swim. After a fun swim, we snack on delicious food from nearby stalls, adding to the excitement of our visit. And of course, no trip to Mananap River Resort is complete without a fun-filled sing-along session with my family.

On weekends, the place is bustling with visitors, as many families take advantage of the no-school days to bond and relax. That’s why we always make sure to arrive at noon, securing a good spot where we can enjoy the best views and unwind in the beauty of nature. After a fun day of swimming, eating, and singing, we head home in our own cars, bringing with us happy hearts and unforgettable memories.

DESTINATION #2: ONE OF THE FAMOUS ATTRACTION IN CAMNORTE, BAGASBAS BEACH

Bagasbas Beach is our favorite go-to destination, not only for its stunning shoreline but also for its scenic boulevards where we love to walk, dine by the shore, and admire the breathtaking sunset at five in the afternoon. The area is filled with delightful food stalls and local street snacks, or tusok-tusok, making every visit even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with family while taking in the beauty of the ocean.

Getting to Bagasbas takes about 30 minutes, and during the ride, we make the most of our time by saying a prayer for a safe trip and engaging in heartfelt conversations—something that comes naturally to us Filipinos. Upon arrival, we eagerly explore different food stalls, adding an extra layer of excitement to our visit as we enjoy the stunning beach view. After a satisfying meal and a relaxing time by the shore, we head back home in our cars, carrying with us the joy and warmth of yet another beautiful day at Bagasbas Beach.

DESTINATION #3: BEAUTIFUL BEACH OF GUMAUS, PARACALE

Every summer, my family and I make it a point to visit the beautiful Gumaus Beach in Paracale, Camarines Norte—a hidden paradise that never fails to take our breath away. As soon as we arrive, we are greeted by the stunning view of the golden sand, the endless stretch of clear blue waters, and the gentle sea breeze that instantly washes away all our stress. The beach is not just a place for swimming; it’s a haven for relaxation, adventure, and bonding with loved ones.  

As we prepare to swim, we never forget about wearing sunblocks because of its heat that can really burn your skin. We also brought lots of foods to eat because we always spend half of the day in Gumaus, Paracale. 

We start our day by taking a refreshing dip in the sea, letting the cool water wash away the summer heat. The waves are gentle, making it perfect for swimming and playing around with my siblings. After an energizing swim, we explore the shore, collecting seashells and building sandcastles with the little ones. The view is simply breathtaking, especially when the sun starts to set, painting the sky with shades of orange, pink, and purple. We make most of it before the summer ends.

What makes Gumaus Beach truly special is its unspoiled beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Unlike crowded commercialized beaches, it offers a more laid-back and serene escape from the busy city life. The soft white sand, the gentle waves, and the fresh sea breeze make every moment there unforgettable.
